EX-LIBRISES FROM NUMISMATIC BOOKS FROM THE SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF UKRAINIAN HISTORY

Abstract

The article studies and analyzes the ex-librises stored within the numismatic books in the Scientific Library of the National Museum of Ukrainian history (NMUH), their scientific value in numismatic studies is determined. The numismatic publications from the book collection of the NMUH also contains handwritten autographs by famous numismatists, like Oleksiy Oreshnikov, Great Duke Ivan Tolstoy, Prof. Valentyn Ryabtsevych, as well as donational inscriptions and notes related to the founder and the first director of the NMUH – Mykola Bilyashivskyi. There are also various stamps of different scientific societies, related to the study of history and protection of cultural heritage on the pages of the books. The numismatic literature in the scientific library also reflects almost all kinds of the ex-librises and stamps of the NMUH – from the first museum with the official name Kyiv Museum of Antiquities and Arts to the present.
