THE EXPERIENCE OF COMPILING A REFERENCE BOOK BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE COLLECTION OF SARMATIAN SWORDS OF OAM FUNDS
Abstract
The author suggests an example of compiling a reference book of the groups of artifacts stored in the museum’s collections by the example of the collection of Sarmatian swords of OAM funds. The main principle is to collect as fullest information as possible about a thing, including the field documentation. The author offers a detailed optional instruction for each particular step of this work. This allows to save the largest amount of information in one place, thus avoiding mistakes during the studies. In addition, the compilation of such reference books will allow minimization of disturbance of an artifact itself.
