KIYV ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS UNDER THE CONTROL OF GERMAN ADMINISTRATION IN THE FIELD OF ARCHAEOLOGY(1942–1945)
Abstract
In March 1942, the District Agency for Prehistory and Protohistory by General Commissar was founded with dr. P. Grimm in charge, whose assignment was to take under the control main archaeological collections of Kiyv. In November 1942, the State Institute for Prehistory and Protohistory was founded by the directive of Reichskommissar, and professor R. Stampfuss was appointed as a head of the institute. In the autumn 1943, archaeological collections and stuff of the establishment were moved into Germany, where the institution recommenced its functioning in Höchstädt an der Donau and existed till May 1945.
