Abstract

The author examines this phenomenon in the history and culture of Ukraine, as ktitorian and donatorian church dignitaries regarding church and secular cultures: in Kievan Rus-Ukraine in the late Middle centuries, Cossack times and especially very unfavorable for the development of national forms of Ukrainian culture during the XIX century. Emphasized a negative resistance trends, constantly manifested in the policies of imperial power of Moscow and, in particular, the Russian Church, suppress or destroy all aspects in Ukrainian culture. Resistance included the fact that Ukrainian traditions fostered at home device, holidays, rituals, which have always had a deep Christian and evangelical character.
