Abstract

The aim of the article is to demonstrate the relevance of museum presentation of bookmarks, ex-libris, donatives and marginal inscriptions on the antique books from the library of the National Museum of Ukrainian History as new forms of museum presentation of books – important material symbols of history and culture. Another aim is to prove that a book could be brought into museum communication not only as a text for reading or product of publishing or bookbinding, but also as a source, which let make connections between a particular person, their philosophy, social and spiritual missions. The third aim of the article is to advocate the development of a librarian`s research (scientific) competencies, their self-education and participation in non-formal lifelong learning.

Key words: bibliographic index, bookmark, ex-libris, history of the Jewish community, the National Museum of Ukrainian History, museum library, Judaica, Jewish studies.
