WEAPON AND ARMAMENTS FROM ITALIAN ANTIQUARIANS OF 19-TH CENTURY R. RICHARDS AND A. ALBERICHI IN THE COLLECTION OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF UKRAINIAN HISTORY
Abstract
The article reviews the five exhibits of NMUH, that were in the assembly of well-known known Kyiv collector Bohdan Khanenko until 1917. He, in turn, has bought these items on the auction of Roman collectors Raul Richards and Augusto Alberichi. Article emphasizes five, gathered by Khanenko parts of armaments and military equipment, which are historical and artistic rarities; research and biographies of previous owners. Raul Richards was known not only as a Roman antiquarian and artist, but as a son of the artist’s Emmа Gaggiotti-Richards, who worked at the royal court of the Great Britain and Alfred Bate Richards – English aristocrat, lawyer, journalist and writer. Augusto Alberichi was known as the author of landscapes and historical paintings and collector of archaeological finds and works of art of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and modern times.
