Abstract

Various pendants-amulets, particularly zoomorphic, were closely associated with Slavs religious beliefs in 11th – 13th century Rus. In the same time, there was a tradition of wearing amulets from canine teeth and animal bones. Its origin dates back to ancient totemic beliefs. There is an interesting collection of such artifacts in the National Museum of Ukrainian History (32 items). In this article we have focused on characteristic of zoomorphic pendants, amulets from animal bones, also considered their spreading territory, place in costume and semantics. Most information in the article is published for the first time.
