ACQUISITIONS FOR ART MUSEUMS’ COLLECTIONS IN UKRAINE (LATE 19TH– EARLY 20TH CENTURY)
Abstract
The report analyzes the forms and principles of acquisitions for art museums’ collection in Ukraine during the period discussed. It was determined that up to the 1920s donation was the predominant form of acquisitions. Museum collections were completed without using the completeness principle. In 1920s the State Museum Collection became the main source of the art museums’ completing. Research expeditions were conducted to find and collect art objects.
