FORMATION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS AND MODERNISATION OF THE ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM OF V. KARAZIN KHARKIV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
Abstract
The Archaeology Museum of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was founded simultaneously with the establishment of the University. The first collections began to form thanks to well-known researchers and university professors: D. I. Bahalii, V. E. Danylevych, A. M. Pokrovskyi, E. P. Tryfiliev and others. During the war, the museum collections were destroyed. In 1950–1960s, formation of the museum collection continued thanks to the excavations headed by B.A. Shramko and V. I. Kadeiev. Collections increase regularly; archaeological studies are conducted regularly too. Due to the university administration, in 2015 the museum opened new premises and permanent archaeological expedition «The contribution of the university scholars in the development of archaeology». The museum carries out active research, popularizes the archeology and history of native land.
