Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze two publishing projects of the National Museum of Ukrainian History namely collections of scientific articles (1958–2016) and materials of scientific conferences (1993–2015), using the hermeneutic method. Two databases were developed, in which was included information about the main topics, locations and time mentioned in articles of different authors (most of whom were the NMUH staff). The main specific topics of the articles were grouped into abstract groups, which allowed us to determine the actual direction of researches over a long period of the NMUH publishing projects’ existence. The basic ‘gaps’ and ‘dark’ spots of themes, locations and time are determined. Recommendations for future researchers are given so that they pay attention to them, especially when studying archaeological excavations’ materials or museum objects, in order to comprehensively cover the Ukrainian history and its historical periods more evenly. One of the practical results were open online databases with more than 1200 articles.
