ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF VOLYN MUSEUM OF LOCAL LORE IN CONDITIONS OF UKRAINIAN STATE-MAKING
Abstract
The article describes changes in the organizational structure of Volyn Museum of Local Lore (thereafter – the Museum) during 1991–2017, basing on analysis of documents of the State Archives of Volyn region and reports of the museum. It is established that usage of new principles for the functioning of the museum work in Ukraine led to the transformation of state, departmental and public museums in Volyn region. They became decisive for the reorganization of the structure of the Museum as the main museum institution of the region.
The departments of the Museum, operating in district centers, became independent institutions as a result of changes in the funding system. Volyn Icon Museum in Lutsk was created to preserve and popularize the collection of sacral art in 1993. During 1991–2011, museum workers implemented the idea of opening a memorial museum-estate of Vyacheslav Lypynskiy in the village of Zaturtsi of Lokachi area. The members of the Volyn region fraternity of the holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called initiated and created the only museum of fraternity – Lutsk Fraternity History Museum (2011). In this way, during the analyzed period, the structure of the Museum has changed. Now (January 1, 2017) there are five operating museums in structural divisions of the Museum.
The material analyzed in this article will contribute to more comprehensive researches of the processes of museum-making, which is typical for Ukraine in recent decades.
