‘ST. GEORGE THE DRAGON SLAYER’ ICON OF 16TH CENTURY FROM THE NMUH COLLECTION: THE STORY OF ACQUISITION
Abstract
The article is dedicated to the story of asquision of the ‘St. George the Dragon Slayer’ icon (16th century), which is now the part of the National Museum of Ukrainian History collection. Based on six epistolary sources published for the first time, the article shows that O. Maydaniuk obtained the icon in 1913 at the request of D. Shcherbakivskyi, a Head of Historical and Ethnographic Departments of the Kyiv Museum of Art, Industry and Science.
