VASYL CHUCHUPAK IN THE MEMOIRS OF THE FELLOW VILLAGERS
Abstract
The paper presents the results of the investigations conducted on the territory of Melnyky village of Chyhyryn district (Cherkasy region). The study concerns the biographical data of Vasyl Chuchupak, the chief ataman of the Haidamak’s regiment of Kholodnyi Yar who fought against the Bolshevikˈs authorities on the territories of the right bank of the Dnipro. The material is based on the memoirs of both the old-timers and written sources. The study is relevant because it does not only present the historical aspect of his biography, but also characterizes him as an ordinary young man and village fellow.
