NOTES TO THE PROBLEM OF KYIV TYPE MONETARY INGOTS DATING

Abstract

The article analyzes critically current data on the dating of the Kyiv type hexagonal silver ingots. Treasures dating by the 1st half and midd-12th century from Burge and Mysholovka contained the Chernihiv type ingots only, which were technological and morphological prototypes of the Kyiv type ingots. The emergence of the Kyiv type ingots was possible only in the2nd half of 12th century and the use of ingots lasted untill early 14th century.
