SPECIFICS OF USING PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION TAGS IN THE ARMED FORCES OF GERMANY AND THE USSR DURING THE PERIOD OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR (1939–1945)

Abstract

The article examines the history of the use of means directly intended for the identification of the dead or seriously injured soldiers, used in the armed forces of the main participants of the Second World War. In particular, attention is focused on the study of the system of fixing of irreversible losses in the troops of the Red Army and the armed forces of Germany. The preconditions for the introduction of personal identification and specifics of their usage in the armies of the USSR and Nazi Germany are considered, as it is precisely their armed forces that were involved in the most massive armed operations on the territory of Ukraine during the Second World War.
