RUSSEL-RAO COMPATIBILITY INDEX IN THE STYLISTIC EXAMINATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

Abstract

The authors of the article suggest the use of the Russell-Rao kinship method for the use of attribution of works of art. Russell-Rao’s modified version-controversial affinity index is the most suitable for use in expert and research work with cultural heritage. The article gives examples of its calculation for solving the problem of attribution of art works to the style of ‘impressionism’ and of the specificity and dating of icon paintings.
