TO THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE NIKOPOL MUSEUM OF LOCAL LORE: FROM THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS TO THE MUSEUM OF LOCAL LORE
Abstract
The Nikopol Museum of Fine Arts was created in 1919 by the decision of the local authorities. The history of its formation is virtually unknown to the wide audience of the museum community of Ukraine, so it is worth recalling the stages of the formation of one of the oldest provincial museums of the Dnieper Ukraine. The article, which is based on archival documents, provides an opportunity to reveal a new aspect of the history of museum activities in Ukraine, to tell about the enthusiastic of museum workers and the attitude of the authorities to the museums of that time. The article examines the first decade of the existence of the museum – before granting it the status of the museum local lore. The history of the Nikopol Museum of Local Lore has not been explored until this time. The original spelling of the documents is preserved.
