EVERYDAY LIFE’S SUBJECTS OF A GALICIAN TOWN (1918–1939) IN THE COLLECTION ‘WOOD AND METAL’ OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF FOLK ARHITECTURE AND LIFE OF UKRAINE
Abstract
The National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine is one of the largest and most abundant scans of Europe. Its funds amount to more than 80 000 unique exhibits of the traditional folk culture from all over Ukraine. They are divided into preservation units of wood and metal, ceramics, fabric, clothing, decorative and applied arts, etc. At the same time, along with the items of the rural life items brought from cities and towns, including Galicia, are stored in the collection. It includes a variety of items, ranging from small household items of daily use to musical instruments, icons, and others. The daily activities of Ukrainian burghers of the small cities of Galicia are represented by textiles, ceramics, collection of wood and metal presents, which include furniture, household appliances, houseware, decorative and applied items. Among these, many wooden products belong to the authorship of the distinguished carvers’ dynasties – Shkriblyak, Korpaniuk, Balagutrak.
